The Power of 10
Taking place in the context of TFI Torino Film Industry 8, the 2025 edition of ShorTO Film Market (November 23-25, 2025) will be marked by the important milestone of 10 years. A decade that has brought recognition, making it one of the most recognized short film markets internationally, and one of the few events exclusively dedicated to industry activities for short films.
Focusing on the anniversary, the Market has launched an in-depth analysis of the productive outcomes of the 160 projects pitched between 2016 and 2024 to assess the success rate and value injected into the cinema industry. Preliminary data already confirm the initiative’s catalytic role for the projects, showing that several pitching sessions were crucial for their production.
Also on the theme of analysis is the event that will be realized with the Concorto Film Festival and the Master in Management del Cinema e dell’Audiovisivo of the University of Bologna. Together with us from the Italian Short Film Center, we have in fact joined forces given the common interest aimed at creating an editorial publication that provides an updated report on the state of short cinema in Italy.
Short film projects are and remain the heart of the Market. From happy comebacks, such as Premio Sonego pitches that will bring on stage 6 short film comedies, to animation and immersive content, to which is dedicated the pitching session Think Outside the Keyframe, and to Road to Euro Connection/Italy, the 100% Italian pitching session with established teams of authors and producers whose film is ready for co-production. Finally, You Only Pitch Twice, a pitching session which is concrete proof that it is better to collaborate than to compete: a selection of projects from other pitching forums that creates interconnection, continuity, and concrete ground for the projects’ growth.
The XR Content Market Showcase will give visibility to recent international immersive projects. Moreover, the Italian Short Films Video Library will be updated with a selection of recent Italian short productions.
As part of the CULTURA LITUANA IN ITALIA 2025-2026 programme, ShorTO Film Market will shine a spotlight on Lithuania as the Country in Focus, thanks to the collaboration with Lithuanian Shorts, Lithuanian Film Center and the Lithuanian Embassy in Italy. This partnership features a panel dedicated to Lithuanian film production, a networking reception and a public screening.
Not forgetting the public programme, where three screening programs will bring 18 short films to a movie theater: the 2025 SIC@SIC competition of the Venice International Critics’ Week, a selection from Lithuanian Shorts, and the best short films from past editions of the Market.
None of this would be possible without the almost all-female team of young professionals who commit their talent and creativity to the activities crucial for the existence of the Market, creating a work environment of collaboration and support and pursuing jointly a precise vision of the cultural collective practice.
