Think Outside the Keyframe is an international co-production pitching forum for upcoming animation short films. Selected participants will have five minutes to pitch their project to an audience of film professionals. Short film projects of any animation genre are eligible to participate. Following the pitch session, participants will attend a series of one-to-one meetings with industry professionals scheduled by the ShorTO team.
Think Outside the Keyframe is exclusively dedicated to two categories of applicants: single directors or creative teams composed of a producer and a director, from any country of the world, looking for development or production support in order to realise an animated project. A diversified panel of Decision-Makers, composed of Italian and International film industry professionals – commissioning editors, buyers, distributors, festival representatives, directors, producers, and film institutions – will be invited to attend and provide feedback to the selected projects.

Almost Famous

Almost Famous is an international distribution pitching forum for upcoming short films, of any genre, up to 30 minutes, made in partnership with Lights On distribution company. Selected participants will have five minutes to pitch their project to an audience of film professionals. The pitch should include the screening of a 2-minute film excerpt.
Short films at the last phase of postproduction, with a rough cut or finished and unreleased, without a distribution deal, are eligible to participate. Following the pitch session, participants will attend a series of one-to-one meetings with industry professionals scheduled by the ShorTO team.
Almost Famous is dedicated to the following categories of applicants: single directors or creative teams composed of a producer and a director, from any country of the world, looking for distribution. Lights On will award one of the selected projects with a two-year distribution contract.
Regular deadline: Tuesday 25th August 2026. Fee/Regular: € 40,00.
Late deadline: Monday 5th October 2026. Fee/Late: € 55,00.

The XR Content call is open to 3DoF and 6DoF Extended Reality experiences and content to take part in the ShorTO XR Theatre Market Showcase.
ShorTO XR Theatre Market Showcase is a series of industry screenings aimed at promoting recently completed XR content productions to an audience of professionals. ShorTO XR Theatre Market Screenings will feature Curated Programs, selected by ShorTO programmers, alongside Guest Programs, curated by partners.
The XR Content call is dedicated exclusively to filmmakers aiming to promote their 3DoF and 6DoF Extended Reality experiences to a diversified audience of cinema professionals – buyers, festival representatives, directors, producers, and film institutions.
Deadline: Monday, 31st August 2026 at 23:59 CEST. Fee: 5,00 €.
