The Italian Short Film Center continues its collaboration with the Venice International Film Critics‘ Week for the promotion of Italian short films by proposing a public screening of the titles in competition at the 9th edition of SIC@SIC (Short Italian Cinema @ International Film Critics’ Week) at the Cinema Greenwich Village, in the context of the special screenings proposed by Torino Film Industry.

Marco Talarico – Italy, 2024 – 15′

A young man, after attempting to reconstruct photos from a vacation using A.I., decides to embark on a journey to the country he vaguely remembers visiting, Georgia. His goal is to create new memories and to meet the girl he believes holds the key to those lost moments.

Cowboy Billi

Fede Gianni – Italy, 2024 – 15′

It is the late 1960s and in the Roman countryside, next to the construction sites of the burgeoning suburb, dozens of western films are being shot. Billi is twelve years old, rides horses and dreams of becoming a cowboy. When the head of the extras department arrives in town looking for young movie extras, Billi feels this is his big chance. But his family thinks otherwise.

Recently moved to the city, he meets Dylan, a charming guy with the same passion for elaboration, who seems to bring him out of his shell and really appreciate him. He has everything Leonardo wants: confidence and charisma. After an afternoon with Dylan’s friends, amidst techno music and alcohol, Leonardo finds himself overwhelmed by a complicated event. The spiral of violence and humiliation he ends up in that winter day will forever mark his growth and his view of the world.

A dark night is revealed through the garish colours and metallic sounds of an illegal party. Here, Andrea – DJ and organiser – confesses his troubles and joys in a series of increasingly delirious audio messages addressed to a distant figure. Andrea sends a lonely cry for help: as we discover his relationship with the listening ghost, he tells us about the human experience of an underground rave. In a reality that punishes and controls, a party without limits of space and time ignites the city and liberates the bodies we inhabit. But in our time, do we really manage to connect, or do we remain alone even when we are together?
